Solar Energy

Though Denmark is known for its large-scale wind energy production the most, it also aims to diversify sustainable energy production by further investing in solar power. In 2022, 6.1% of total Danish energy demand was covered by solar power, and Danish Energy Agency projects that percentage to rise up to 12% in the next few years.

To decrease its dependency on fossil fuels even further, Denmark has also invested heavily in solar power for district heating, to be able to heat its homes and workplaces without any CO2 emissions at a 20% cheaper cost. Today, Dronninglund District Heating is one of the biggest of its kind in Europe, and it received the European Solar Prize Award in 2015.
